Purpose of award: To reward high school students who write essays about the Holocaust.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be age 19 and under who are currently enrolled as high school students in grades 9 to 12 (including home-schooled students), high school seniors or students who are enrolled in a high school equivalency program and be residents of either the United States or Mexico or United States citizens living abroad. Applicants should submit essays about the Holocaust and entry forms. Every essay must include works cited, a reference page or a bibliography. First place winners will receive free trips to Washington, DC.

Purpose of award: Named after a University of Maryland political historian and his wife, the Horace Samuel and Marion Galbraith Merrill Travel Grants seek to perpetuate the couple's desire to assist fledgling scholars and authors.
Eligibility requirements: The award provides stipends, access to research collections and opportunities to interview current and former public figures in Washington D.C. Only applications from current OAH members are accepted.
